Mystery One
Shadow squinted into the rising sun as the early morning light reflected off the freshly fallen snow. Shadow headed due east following the snow shoe tracks of Harry Fowl, the world famous photographer.
Suddenly to Shadow’s horror, he came upon the dead body of Harry Fowl. He had been shot and killed by an arrow that entered his back and pierced his heart. Shadow raced back to the chalet where his weekend companions were just sitting down for breakfast. All three men were shocked when Shadow relayed the tragedy. Sam Slug kept muttering that he just couldn’t believe it. Sid Shady said it seemed just moments ago that Harry told him he was going out to photograph various birds in their early morning habit. Buck Shot, who was counting arrows, turned ashen white when he noticed one of them was missing.
“One of you is the killer”, said Shadow. Who does he suspect and why?
Mystery Two
Duncan Drivel hailed a cab. While being driven to his destination he started chattering non-stop to the driver. The cabbie realised that Duncan would not shut up so he resorted to an old cab driver’s trick. He looked into his rear view mirror and said. “I’m sorry mister, I can’t hear a word you’re saying. My hearing aid broke down this morning. I’m quite deaf even when it’s working.” At his destination Duncan paid the fare and got out. A few moments later he realised the cab driver had lied about his hearing problem. How did Duncan know the driver was lying.
Shadow suspects Shady. Harry wouldn't have headed east to photo birds. With the sun rising in that direction it would have been difficult to see anything. but silhouettes.

Duncan must have told the driver his destination. Had the driver been deaf he would not have known where to take him.
